Professional Development

Please invest a few minutes of your valuable time to familiarize yourself with the experiences and accomplishments of Brian M. Jones, CPA. PFS, CFP®, CLU®, CLTC, Wealth Management Advisor.  Our valued clients benefit from his diverse professional background and experience.

Brian's entrepreneurial and business skills started when he was 16 years old as Founder and Owner of Marshall Painting Company. For the next eight years, his summertime business employed up to eight employees and grossed over $40,000 (in current dollars this would equate to over $90,000). His company completed over 160 residential, commercial and municipal projects, including historic restorations. This provided him with hands-on entrepreneurial and management experience and allowed him to finance his college education.

After completing his Bachelors of Science Degree in Accounting, Brian was a Tax Consultant and Certified Public Accountant (CPA) for a local firm and then a Senior Tax Consultant for a Big-8 International Accounting Firm. His five tax seasons worth of experience provided him with a unique and profound understanding of personal and business income taxes, business and retirement solutions, risk management, and estate analysis.  His accounting and consulting clients included entrepreneurs, executives, and retirees in diverse business operations ranging from medical, service, high tech and manufacturing firms.

In 1989, Brian decided to utilize his unique background and help his valued clients as a financial professional delivering high-quality planning, investment and risk managment planning.

Brian is honored to be a Past President of the Connecticut Estate & Tax Planning Council, Inc. (www.ctetpc.org).  Brian served his profession as an active Director and Officer of the Council's Board of Directors from 1999 - 2007.  After serving as a Director for three years, Brian was elected by his peers, and ultimately served as Secretary, Treasurer, Vice-President, President and Immediate Past President.  Brian served as the Council's President from 2005 - 2006 and helped the council celebrate 70 years of service to Connecticut estate and tax planning professionals at its May 2006 Annual Meeting.

Brian is frequently asked to speak to professional and business organizations on personal and business needs including insurance, investment, retirement and estate preservation and distribution.

Brian believes in the importance of continuing education and staying on the forefront of knowledge in his field. Early in his career, he furthered his education with graduate tax courses at the University of Hartford. He has continued his professional edcuation and earned the professional designation of  Personal Financial Specialist (PFS) certification from the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants. In addition, Brian earned the CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER ™ (CFP®) certification from the Certified Financial Planner Board of Standards, Inc. plus the Chartered Life Underwriter (CLU®) certification from the American College.  He received his Certification in Long-Term Care (CLTC) from the Corporation for Long-Term Care Certification.
