Community Involvement

For over 40 years, Brian has had the pleasure of actively serving his community with numerous professional, civic and charitable organizations.

Brian has been an active member of the United Church of Christ, Southbury ( since 1978 where he has served in the following Leadership roles: Past-President of Church Council having served for over 9 years as a member, Vice President, President, and Immediate Past President.  In addition, he has previously served as a Deacon, co-chair of the Investment and Planned Giving Committee, and chair of the Personnel Committee. He currently serves as co-chair of the Board of Stewardship; chair of the Financial Exam Committee, and volunteers as a Sunday School Teacher.


Since 1983, Brian has been an active volunteer fireman and engineer with the Southbury Volunteer Firemen's Association, Inc. (  He served as chair of the Public Education Committee (formerly known as the Fire Prevention Committee) from 1995 - 2012 and enjoys speaking to groups of all ages about fire safety. He has been nominated by the department on several occasions for the Connecticut Public Safety Educator of the Year Award and in 2010 Brian was honored by the department as "Firefighter of the Year".


Board of Directors, St. Mary's Hospital Foundation, Inc. ( Brian also currently serves as a member of the Finance Committee.

The Saint Mary’s Hospital Foundation was established in 1990 in order expand the healthcare services provided to the community. Through the commitment and generosity of so many, the Foundation has renovated and built facilities, developed new outreach and clinical programs and acquired state-of-the-art equipment and technologies. The Foundation has also been fortunate enough to attract an accomplished group of medical staff who are bringing together expertise and advancements at the highest levels of care.


Board of Trustees, Connecticut Community Foundation, Inc. (  Brian serves has served as a Trusttee since 2018 and since 2014 has served on the Investment Committee, which oversees the Foundations $ 100+ milion portfolio. 

Established in 1923, Connecticut Community Foundation was created by and for the people of Greater Waterbury and the Litchfield Hills. While serving this 21-town region, the Foundation provides leadership in addressing the community’s critical issues, strengthens local nonprofit organizations through grants and technical assistance programs, and works with individuals, families and corporations to steward charitable and scholarship funds.


Founder / Chairperson and/or co-chair, of the Southbury Celebration since 1999. This town-wide food, music fellowship and fireworks program annually attracts 3,000 – 5,000 area residents each Fall.


Brian was formerly the President and the Treasurer of the Southbury Historical Society (www.southburyhistory.orghaving served on the Board of Directors for 15 years (1987 – 2002).
